The Senate president made this known in his Christmas message through Yusuph Olaniyonu, his special adviser on media and publicity.
He said the spirit of love and peace during Yuletide season are the necessary ingredients the government of President Muhammadu Buhari needs in order to put Nigeria at its rightful position among the committees of nations of the world.
Saraki however observed that the current economic crunch the country is facing as a result of fall in revenue being generated by the Federation is temporary. He said the country will still overcome the present situation as a promising future will come afterwards.
The statement reads: “Our President has just presented to the National Assembly the proposed estimates of 2016 budget of hope. We in the National Assembly have resolved to throw our weight behind the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and to collaborate with him in the execution of his policies of Change aimed at enhancing the living standard of our people and for a brighter prospect for our dear nation.
“This is another season of love, season of liberation, sacrifice and giving to the needy. The commemoration of the birth of Christ and the whole essence of His life shows the reality of God’s love to mankind.
“Let us reflect on the message of Christmas by living peacefully and harmoniously which is one of the cardinal tenets of both Christianity and Islam. Irrespective of our religious beliefs, we should open our hearts with love and prayers for the unity and progress of this great nation.”
The Nigeria’s number three citizen further urged Nigerians to keep their hope on God alive and remain committed. He said these are the ways Nigeria can move forward, as Christmas means love, perseverance, patience, brotherly kindness and care.
He concluded by advising commuters particularly to avoid over-speeding on the highways and drive with caution in order to have a memorable festive period.
The All Progressives Congress  (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu also spoke about Christmas as he urged Christians to learn the lessons from the birth of Jesus Christ.
